Reynaldo L. Thompson, Jr., 81, of Hanover Park, IL died at homeFriday, August 11, 2023. A Graveside Service will be held at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights, IL May 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm with a celebration of his life at a future date to be determined.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra Thompson DiPeri (Joseph) of Texas; Tamara Thompson (Jesse) of CA; son Jeffrey Thompson (Joy) of West Virginia; granddaughters Ariel DiPeri and Kayla Thompson, and grandson Alexander Thompson; brother Douglas Thompson of Iowa, sister Connie Washburn (Don) of Iowa, and brother Gary Thompson (Debra) of Iowa, and brother in-law John Potaczek of Wisconsin; Also numerous friends and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Thompson; parents Reynaldo Leslie Thompson, Sr. and Elizabeth Lorraine; sister Carol Potaczek; and mother of his girls, Gail.
Reynaldo enjoyed his work as a structural steelworker for over 40 years. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local 1 and his work helped shape the Chicago skyline. He was a member of the retirees board. After retirement he started his own lawn business to keep active and be in the outdoors. He was devoted to Bonnie Skye and other numerous dogs through the years, and had fun at the casino, playing the slots.
He also served his country in the U.S. Navy 1961-1966. As a youth, he lived and worked on the family's dairy farm in Gilman, Wisconsin
