Whether he was known as Papaji, Dadaji, Nanaji, Bhaisab, Mamaji or “Mhindo,” he was famous for his great sense of humor and easy ability to make others laugh. Ravinder Nath Goyal passed away in the early morning hours of July 9, 2015, surrounded by his family who were with him through the end.
Born on December 25, 1933 in Sangrur, Punjab, India, to Parvati Devi and Ajudhia Parkash Goyal, head of State Bank of Patiala. He was raised in Patiala, Punjab where he and his beloved wife Sudha (nee Pushpa) raised their own 6 children. They moved to Chicago in 1981 where they made their home among family and friends from back home.
He is survived by his sons Dinesh (Anjali) & Rakesh (Deepika) and his daughters Reva (Pradeep), Savita (Arun), Kavita and Poonam (Naveen); his 12 grandchildren Anurag (Zarah), Gaurav, Mala (Justin), Pooja, Neel, Megha, Vinnie, Kunal, Rohan, Aman, Milan, & Rishi; his great-grandson Niam; his sister Shashi (Amrit), their 3 daughters, Kumud (Pawan), Anshu (Vishal), Angda (Dharmesh) and grandkids Sonali, Pranav, Viraj, Nikhil and Sanam, and many beloved cousins, nieces & nephews.
His laughter, his jokes and his “gol-guppa pani” will always be remembered. He loved to open his home to his family and friends and spend quality time with them. For those who were far away, he made time to connect on a regular basis. The world has lost a warm, caring and generous man. We love him and pray for his soul to be at peace.
