Ralph Wooland
October 3, 1942 — May 15, 2024
Ralph Nelson Wooland, 81, of Elgin, IL, and former long-time resident of Algonquin, IL, passed away on May 15, 2024. A Navy Veteran born in Wisconsin, Ralph was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, an active member in the Sleepy Hollow Super Torquers Car Club since 1965, and an avid reader and photography enthusiast. He felt a deep sense of pride and joy in his role as Ahpa to granddaughters Jade and Alexandra, as well as the dozens of furry and feathered “grandpets” his daughters brought home over the years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Carol Sue (Lohse) Wooland, daughters Kathleen (Kevin) Lyneis of South Elgin, IL, Krisann (Duane) McElvain of Madison, WI, and his sister Karen Kennedy. He is preceded in death by stepdaughter Jennifer (Topolewski) Houck (Tim), his sister Jeanne (Edward) Heideman, and his parents Ralph Herbert and Kathleen (Fowler) Wooland. His family finds comfort picturing Ralph reunited with passed loved ones on the sandy shore of the Wisconsin River near the Wooland Family Cottage.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, with Navy honors and service at 6:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert St. (at State St.), South Elgin, IL.
