Phyllis Kordecki

July 22, 1945 — February 23, 2024

Phyllis Lou Kordecki was born into this world on July 22, 1945 to Lou and Ella Hartnek in Kenosha, Wisconsin and peacefully passed away on February 23rd, 2024.  A sassy woman with a low tolerance for those with low character, Phyllis never missed an opportunity to make a witty comment.  If she liked you, you knew it, but you also knew if you fell from grace; you definitely were not going to get socks that Christmas.

She fought two types of cancer like a heavy-weight champion dressed in a satin Kaftan, always regal and forever commanding the room. Cancer may have bested her body but it never diminished her fiery spirit.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her uncle, Phil Sander.   She leaves behind a part-time fisherman and full-time husband, Pete Kordecki, and their two daughters Karen (Ken) Nehiley and Kristen (hopelessly single) to fight over who gets the mantle clock; and her older brother, Hank (Dee) Hartnek of Tucson, AZ.

She was grateful to her medical team for their care and their laughter as they shared in her dark-humored jokes. Her family gives thanks to her hospice team who ushered her on her way with great kindness and peace.

She can finally rest, enjoy a cigarette and bottle of Barbancourt and sing Janis Joplin as loud as she damn well pleases.

A private memorial is planned at Simmons Island in Kenosha, Wisconsin and a party on Bow Channel in Sugar Loaf Key, Florida.
