Phyllis was an accomplished gardener and loved to make strawberry jam, pickles and canned tomatoes. Phyllis worked part-time for ten years for the Moline School District. She and her husband Don retired young and enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel with friends. They spent more than 20 winters in Arizona, Texas and Florida and visited all 50 states.
Phyllis was born in Hill City, SD and from her family farm had a bird’s eye view of the construction of Mt. Rushmore, just a few miles away. She loved visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota, enjoyed going on long walks and was an enthusiastic square dancer.
Beloved wife of the late Donald for 65 years with whom she shared a birthday and to make it even more special, they chose to be married on their mutual birthday. Loving mother of Debbie (Joe) Tuccori and Donna (Ron) Comerford; cherished grandmother of Justin (Beth) Strandlund, Ryan Bassett (Lauren) Comerford and Dayle Comerford; adored great grandmother of Owen Bassett Comerford; dear sister of the late Mary Skay and Tom Gorman; cherished aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. The memories she leaves in our hearts will live on forever.
