Phillip "Phil" Robert Gutierrez, 44, of South Elgin passed away March 14, 2023, in the comfort of his home. Phil was the beloved husband of Mary (nee MacCoubrey) for 14 years; loving father of Alex Gutierrez and Zach Davis; proud grandfather of Rosalia Davis; cherished son of Robert (Lucy Zurba-Gutierrez) Gutierrez and Jacki (nee Perkins) Jenness; dear brother of Robyn Dressler, Stephen Dressler, Vanessa (Javier) DeLuna, Sarah (Brian) Hanby and the late David Gutierrez; fond nephew of Theresa (Ambrose Butera) Gutierrez, Alvin (Lola) Gutierrez and Lynne (Steven) Perkins LaGrande; cousin to Steven and Michael Gutierrez.
Phil was a talented carpenter, he enjoyed building and tinkering in his garage on the odd job. He also liked working on cars, his scooter and working in the yard, especially mowing his lawn. He loved going snowmobiling with friends up North, always looking forward to the snowy season. Phil was always helpful to others, he had the kindest heart and was always there for anyone that needed him. He was the funniest guy, a great sense of humor, he made everyone laugh with his stories and antics. He was happiest at home, with his wife and daughter, he was a homebody. Phil was a family man, loved his family more than anything else, he was fiercely loyal to his friends and was never happier than when he was comfy in bed, with his wife, watching his favorite show. He never let his illness slow him down, always wanting to get back to work, to be busy with something, he never complained and showed more concern for others than himself. He was so loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation Sunday, March 19, 3:00pm - 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert Street, South Elgin. Funeral Monday 10:30am. Following services cremation will be private at Countryside Crematory. Flowers are appreciated, but if you prefer to make a donation family would like to ask that it be made to Living Well Cancer Resource Center in Geneva https://livingwellcrc.org/
