Philip Rystrom

Philip Alan Rystrom, 83, of South Elgin formerly of Elgin; former husband of Harriet “Nan” and the late Gail; father of Kathryn Reed, Susan (Michael) Neel, Laura Chavez, Paula Rystrom, Jonathan (Marty) Rystrom, Mary K. Rystrom, Robert (Cynthia) Keegan, Janet (Dale) Williford, Dan Keegan, Elizabeth Mottashed, Kelly (Thomas) Knorst and Amanda Anderson; grandpa of 30 and great grandpa of 17. He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren Nicholas Leonard and Paige Chavez. Philip was a union member with Elgin Trades Council. He also worked at the Elgin Mental Health Facility as a painter. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and boating in Wisconsin. He spent his winters on the coasts of Florida. In retirement he loved being a grandpa. Visitation Tuesday, Oct. 17th, 3:00 pm until time of service 7:00 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert St. (at Middle St.) South Elgin. Cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory following services. In lieu of flowers, donations to First Congregational Church 256 E. Chicago St. Elgin, Il 60120 would be appreciated.
