Paul Charles Samson, 78, of Bartlett, IL, formerly of Schaumburg, passed away April 29, 2022. Paul was born April 18, 1944 in Chicago, IL. to Edwin Samson and Bertha (Overhage). He graduated from Luther North High School in 1961 and attended Illinois Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. It was during this time that he met his future wife, June. They were married 54 years. Paul was a member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Elk Grove, IL. He worked at Universal Oil Products (UOP), for 20 years in the field of mass spectrometry and later worked for Desoto, Inc. and Environmental Monitoring and Technologies, Inc. doing analytical chemistry. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and also actively volunteered with the Environmental Committee for the Village of Schaumburg. Some of Paul’s many interests and activities, outside of chemistry and spending time with his family, included photography and anything having to do with trains.
Those left to cherish the wonderful memories and witticisms he enjoyed bestowing upon them include: his wife, June, children Karen (Dain) Elman, Susan (Todd) Sowl, Meredith (Seth) Rindner, and grandchildren Tyler and Sydney Sowl, Kelsey Elman, Hannah, Haley, and Hayden Rindner. Paul was preceded in death by his parents.
A wake and celebration of life will be held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 Bartlett Rd (at Stearns Road) Bartlett, IL on Friday May 6, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Funeral Saturday at 10:30am followed by interment at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL.
