Patrick P. Shyan, 69, died February 27, 2022. Patrick was the beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Lau); loving father of Lauren (James) Warner, Jamie (Jim) Cnota and Kristie (Bruno) Streich; grandfather of Joe, Gina, Andy, Maggie, Coleman, Sophia, and Bruno; loving son to Jeanne (Lewtiuch) and Peter Shyan; fond nephew of Millicent (Lewtiuch) and Andrew Diduch; dear brother-in-law of Ann (Bill) Walsh; loving uncle of Denis Walsh and Liz Walsh; fond cousin of James (Mary Lou) Lewtiuch. Loving cat dad to Cookie, Binx, Izzy and Oreo.

Born and raised in Chicago’s Ukrainian Village (St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church) and later moved to the Cumberland Avenue area (St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church). Graduated from Marmion Academy in Aurora.

Pat enjoyed golfing (past proud member of Elgin Country Club) where on occasion, he developed a love of trees, creative shots and frustrating rough. Long standing member of Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center achieving a member spotlight of the month for his determination in building health and stamina. His involvement in these areas evolved into long and lasting friendships that carry through to today. Pat loved traveling and was a masterful planner of yearly trips to Disney World. 😊. Many friends were made along the way.

Pat was a graduate of DePaul University, a talented trumpet player and lover of all types of music including Big Band and patriotic March music, if you would ask his opinion, his favorite band is Journey and would announce, “Arguably the best rock band in the world”. Pat also enjoyed the art of conversation which involved banter, humor and friendly fact checking.

A memorial and celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Golf Club of Illinois 1575 Edgewood Dr, Algonquin, IL 60102 on Saturday, March 12th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.. 847-658-4400.
