Patricia "Patty" Szymczak

Patricia A. "Patty" Szymczak (nee Meyer), 76, of Schaumburg, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. Patty enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events. She was an animal lover whom was an active member in the German Shepherd Club of America as well as President of the American German Shepherd Rescue Association. Beloved wife of 58 years to Gerald "Gary"; loving mother of Denise (Michael) Harrington, Dawna (Timothy) Smeltzer, and Bryan (Jaclyn); proud grandmother of Emma, Ben, Audrey, and Ava Harrington, Devin and Jessica Smeltzer, and Kylie, Madisyn, and Brynlee Szymczak; dear sister of Jack (Karen) Meyer; fond aunt of Sarah (Armando) Calderon. Visitation Thursday, May 30 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 333 S. Roselle Rd. (1/2 mile south of Irving Park Rd.), Roselle. Funeral Friday 11:45am from the funeral home to St. Walter Church. Mass 12:30pm. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park, IL.
