Patricia Sumoski (née Durkin), age 83, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, in Genoa, Illinois. Born on June 30, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois.
Known affectionately as Pat, she built a meaningful career with the U46 school district for over 20 years in various roles, and retiring as a Dean’s assistant at Streamwood High School.
She is survived by her son Keith Sumoski and his wife Danielle, along with their children Jake and Sara Sumoski—her cherished grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Pat also leaves behind her brother Jack Durkin and his wife Kathy, sister-in-law’s Verena (Jim) Durkin and Judy (Tom) Durkin, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Sumoski, her son Scott Sumoski, her mother-in-law Albina Gaides, her parents Helen and John Durkin, and brothers Tom, Fran, and Jimmy Durkin.
A private memorial service will be held at Bartlett Cemetery, in Bartlett Illinois in July 2025.
Patricia will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, colleague, and friend. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
