With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we share the passing of Olivia, born July 7, 1940 in Chicago, who left this world at the age of 85—still as spirited, youthful, and full of joy as ever.
Olivia’s greatest pride and joy was her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If there was a game, competition, recital, or event—no matter the weather, the distance, or the time—you could count on her to be there, front and center, cheering louder than anyone. Her presence was a constant reminder of her endless love and unwavering support.
She had a passion for shopping, especially when it came to finding the perfect handbag. Her style, charm, and impeccable taste were trademarks she carried effortlessly throughout her life. At home, she enjoyed cozy nights under multiple blankets and filled with true crime documentaries, cooking and lifestyle shows, and perfectly played rounds of solitaire on her phone.
A true example of determination and energy, Olivia loved to work—often juggling multiple jobs at once. After two decades of working at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, retirement never slowed her down; instead, she launched into a second career she adored, spending 15 wonderful years working at the Streamwood Park District, where she formed friendships, stayed active, and continued to brighten the lives of everyone she met.
Olivia lived her life with vibrancy—active, social, engaged, and always ready with a smile. She had a gift for making people feel cared for, and she carried that gift into every chapter of her life.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, humor, and devotion—one that her family will carry forward with pride and affection. Though our hearts ache, we are comforted knowing that her spirit remains with us, cheering us on just as she always did.
After having lived the past 30 years in Streamwood, Illinois, Olivia will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her affectionately as Granny.
She is survived by her daughter Lynda Zenteno (John); grandchildren Lisa Marie Markowski (Joseph), Memo Zenteno (Vanessa) and Angela Olivia Zenteno (Lukas Pumo); great-grandchildren Mason and Mia Olivia Markowski and Isabelle Olivia Zenteno due in January; brother Robert Sanchez (Cheryl Wayne); aunt Gloria Garza and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvador and Mary Lucy Sanchez, ex-husband Donald Daley, and brother Salvador J. Sanchez.
A visitation will be held on Sunday December 21, 2025 from 2:00 to 7:00pm with prayers at 5:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 S Greenmeadows Blvd in Streamwood. 847-289-8054
