After receiving a Ph.D in Education from the University of Chicago, Oliver taught History at the University of Minnesota and was Professor Emeritus of Chicago State University. He was also a novelist and columnist for the Daily Herald for many years.
He is the cherished son of the late Oliver and Antoinette nee d'Autremont; loving brother of the late Carl, Antoinette, Paul and Mary; many loving nieces and nephews.
