Nollie Reyes

January 8, 1944 — February 11, 2024

It is with great sadness that the Reyes family announces the passing of Nollie Torres Reyes. Our loving, amazing, and beautiful mother passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights, Illinois surrounded by her family. Nollie was the dedicated wife of the late Francisco, who passed away in 2013; loving mother of Norwinda (Peter) Reyes-Lim, Frandolf (Xieryl) Reyes and Frandizon John (Emily) Reyes; cherished grandmother of Ethan (Christina) Distor, Malia Distor, Sharliz Reyes, Paolo Reyes and Marco Reyes; fond great grandma of Madeline Ione Distor and beloved sister of Milagros Santos and Luz Punzalan. Nollie was preceded in death by her parents Pedro Torres and Cornelia Polintan Torres; sister Isabel Torres and brothers Abel Torres, Jesus Torres, Jaime Torres, and Efren Torres. She lived an extraordinary life filled with love, laughter, and joy. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Nollie, also known as Mommy, Mi, Lola, Bubby, and Auntie Bey by her family and friends was born in January 8, 1944 in Mexico, Pampanga in the Philippines. She graduated from the University of the East in Manila with a degree in Business Administration. She worked oversees in Vientiane, Laos  where she met our father Francisco Reyes and gave birth to their eldest daughter Norwinda. They returned back to the Philippines in Cainta, Rizal where they had their sons Frandolf and Frandizon John.

In 1984, she and her family made the ultimate sacrifice by immigrating to the United States where they settled in Chicago, Illinois. Like most immigrants whose journey includes leaving behind their lives in another country, she worked hard to provide for them so they can have a bright and successful future in America. She worked in several companies including American Service Bureau in Des Plaines, IL and U.S. Postal Service in Palatine, IL before retiring in the late 2000s. She was also a successful entrepreneur owing several rental apartments in both the Philippines and America. She is a true example of the successful American dream.

Nollie touched many lives. She not only took care of her family but also found ways to help extended family members and friends how ever she could. There will now be a void in our lives that can never be filled. However, the love, caring, and happiness she brought to us and this world will live on forever. May you rest in peace Mom. We love you!!
