It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nilda Ortiz on Friday, June 19th, 2026. A beloved resident of South Elgin, IL, Nilda was surrounded by her loving family and friends throughout her life.
Nilda was the cherished mother of Mary Ann (Derek) Popp and Jose (Palmira) Diaz, who were her pride and joy. She was also the adoring grandmother to Cristian, Nathan, and Isabella, each of whom brought immense joy and laughter to her days. Nilda was also cared for by her special cousin Gladys.
Her life will be celebrated in a private ceremony to be held at a later date, allowing family and close friends to reflect on the joyful moments they shared with Nilda.
Nilda's generous spirit, warmth, and love for her family and dear friends will remain in their hearts and memories forever. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by eternal love and light.
