Nicholas Markos Kladis, 84 of Streamwood formerly of Chicago Heights, loving husband of Peggy; cherished father of Maria, Diane and Theodora (Ronald) Rollins; dear brother of Anastasia, Angelike and Evagelia and the late Ekatarine, the late Alexandra and the late Dennis; beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was born in the small village of Agala on the Greek island of Zakynthos. As a young man he served in the Greek military during the Korean War. Nicholas and Peggy were married in 1960 and remained devoted to each other for 54 years. Their 50th anniversary was celebrated with a surprise party of family and friends in Greece. After 3 years of marriage the newlyweds immigrated to the United States in 1963. Nicholas found work as a butcher with his brother Dennis. He also loved to cook, becoming skilled enough to become a chef and owning his own restaurant. Gardening, playing cards, family road trips, often with his brother's family were all things he liked to do in his spare time. The family was also known to have a dog or cat in the house most of the time. Above all else his daughters and his wife meant the world to him.
