Nelia Tinio

Visitation for Nelia C. Tinio nee Carandang of Algonquin for 20 years will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 4:00 - 8:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Services and Interment private.
Nelia came to the United States from the Philippines in 1965 to begin what would be lifelong service as a nurse. She began her career in pediatric nursing but quickly transitioned to provide care to those in long term care facilities. Nelia’s knowledge, skill and compassion for the aging population made her a recognized nurse leader and brought her so much joy until her retirement in 2015.

Nelia loved sports…football, basketball, baseball…she spent countless hours watching her favorite teams in addition to never missing her grandsons’ games regardless of the weather. Her passion and sense of humor at game time will be missed.

Nelia is the beloved wife of 53 years of Isidro; loving mother of Glenn (Gina) Tinio and Meredith (Heriberto Arroyo) Tinio; cherished grandmother of Alex and Andrew Tinio and Justin Sagun; dear sister of Emma, Violeta, Erlinda, Amor and the late Nora and Alberto.
