Nathan Dziengel

May 15, 2000 — October 23, 2024

It is with great sadness that we share that Nathan Daniel Dziengel, 24, of Bartlett, IL passed away on October 23, 2024.  He is survived by his parents, Jan and Dan Dziengel, his younger sisters Emily and Sara, his grandmother Dorothy Dziengel, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Nathan (known by his family and friends as Nate, Nay, Jingle, Django) touched so many people throughout the years with his gentle nature and easy-going personality.  Nathan’s smile and warm laugh will be missed by all that knew and loved him. We are grateful for all the friends that accepted him for who he was and all the gifts he had to offer.

From the time he was born, Nathan was an observer and never wanted to draw attention to himself.  A good listener, he was always willing to support his friends and family through any hardship. He chose his moments to speak carefully, and the words he did share often carried an extra weight of thoughtfulness. Nathan was never comfortable with animosity or disharmony amongst friends and family, and would encourage people to see the best in others.

Nathan attended Prairieview Elementary School as well as Eastview Middle School in Bartlett. He then graduated from Saint Francis High School in Wheaton, IL, where he enjoyed playing basketball and soccer. He went on to attend Iowa State University, where he studied advertising.

Nathan joined the team at More Brewing in Bartlett as a bartender when the restaurant opened. He started with no bartending experience and with the guidance of his teammates, quickly learned how to properly serve beer, mix drinks, and connect with regulars. We loved hearing his stories from his shift and seeing him in his element at work. He would often stay after work just to be with his coworkers and friends.  This summer Nathan also started picking up shifts at Pollyanna Brewing in St Charles.  He enjoyed getting to know the staff and the variety of atmospheres between the two breweries.

From his youngest years when his favorite jersey was a #4 Packers jersey, Nathan had an immense love of sports.  Playing, watching, participating in fantasy leagues – sports were an endless passion of his.  His interests varied from European soccer to the UFC.  He was an avid fan of all things Iowa State, the Chicago Bulls, and of course the Green Bay Packers. Nathan’s two visits to Lambeau Field yielded victories and some of his fondest memories of the team. More recently, he developed a passion for Formula One racing. He would connect with friends to watch overseas races at all hours. A highlight of our family trip to southern France this past March was being driven through the Formula One course in Monaco.  We will fondly hold onto the sight of him in the front passenger seat of the van with his phone held in front of him recording every hill and turn.

Nathan had a love of music, movies, and video games. He looked forward to midnight releases of new albums, a new blockbuster movie, or a new video game.

Nathan was naturally gifted with connecting with kids and animals.  He showed a willingness, a patience, and a joy to spend time with even the youngest of his cousins to read a book or play a simple game in the yard.  Nathan enjoyed being in the moment and feeling like a kid again. When our new puppy Auggie arrived, Nathan showed a reservoir of calm, patience, and love to offset the endless energy and teething.  At times, Auggie would fall asleep with his head on Nathan’s lap, and Nathan would refuse to get up for even the most urgent of emergencies as disturbing Auggie’s peaceful slumber was unthinkable.

Nathan, most of all, loved his family – both immediate and extended.  We will forever carry with us the positive impact Nathan had on our lives with his small acts of kindness, willingness to be there when needed, and an ability to share his immense love for all of us with a few words, an unexpected gift or a warm hug.
