Nancy Lee (Kurek) Waichulis, 77, loving mother of Anthony and Jeffery Waichuils, was born on September 29th, 1945, to Anthony and Sophie (Selovich) Kurek in Chicago, where she grew up with her sister Sandra Hissong. She passed away on February 17th, 2023. She loved being a mother and always smiled whenever she talked to her boys. She was proud of her granddaughter Gianna Waichulis for all her accomplishments and loved to show off pictures and videos of her boys and granddaughter. She moved to Dixon with her companion William Rosemann for a more tranquil life.
Nancy fell in love with the Chicago Cubs at a very young age and never missed a televised game. Her favorite Player was Ron Santo, who inspired her as he battled diabetes, which gave her hope with her own. She also liked playing bingo and fishing when she was younger, but not more than raising her boys in Bartlett; she never knew what they would be up to next or which friends would be coming over. She loved socializing and celebrating Christmas, especially watching her family open their gag gifts from Bill. Nancy was always smiling or laughing with or at her boys. She was known for saying, "Way to go, dude!" She loved the color green and anything that sparkled. She also enjoyed listening to Phantom of the opera, so much so the library had to ban her from checking it out as no one else was able to. She also enjoyed country music, with two of her favorite songs being "Another Honkey- Tonk night on Broadway" by David Frizzell and Shelly West and "On the Other Hand" by Randy Travis.
Nancy's trips to Reno and Vegas with her parents started her love of playing the slots. After that, she and her mom always went to find the best-paying machines. Nancy loved to travel, and she enjoyed over half a dozen trips with Bill to Mexico, enjoying the warmth and being near the water while leaving the cold of Illinois behind. She was always up for a trip to Tunica or Biloxi, MS, and would often take off with Bill for a couple of days over to "the boat" in Iowa to win some money. Her favorite part of her trips was when her boys would accompany her. She always looked forward to planning her yearly trip to Biloxi, especially the buffets and other great places to eat, almost more than winning big.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Sophie, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her sons, Anthony and Jeffery; her granddaughter Gianna; her sister Sandra; nephews and nieces Christopher, Lawrence (Amber), James, Catherine (Erik), Kimberly, Adam(Devin), and Ashley(Kevin), her Aunt Ann (Andrew) Metanchuk, and numerous cousins and great nephews and nieces along with other extended family and friends.
She will be greatly missed and loved.
