Nancy Dakuras

Nancy Dakuras, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the age of 81. Her family and friends are deeply saddened by her departure, but they will always cherish the memories of her warmth, kindness, and artistic spirit.
Born on January 25, 1945, in Chicago to the late William and Lillian Laubach, Nancy grew up with a love for life that she carried into adulthood. She married Peter Dakuras in 1964, with whom she shared a devoted and loving marriage for an extraordinary 62 years. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Peter, and her cherished children: Andrea (Bill Kruthers) Dakuras, Matthew (Lori) Dakuras, and Jennifer (Scott) Eisenmenger. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Jacob, Abby, Max, Sam (Benny), Ben, Niko, Alexa, Mitchell, Alex, and Peter, whom she adored and inspired with her wisdom and creativity. She was also an aunt to many loved nieces and nephews.
Nancy also leaves behind her dear brother, William (Sandra) Laubach, and her sister, Judy (Les) Pettiford, along with her sister-in-law, Soo Laubach. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jeffrey Laubach.
She was an avid traveler, exploring the world with an adventurous heart, and capturing its beauty through her gifted watercolor artistry. Apart from her artistic pursuits, Nancy found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren, instilling in them her love for creativity and exploration.
In honor of Nancy's wishes, a private cremation will be held at the Countryside Crematory in Bartlett. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported them during this difficult time.
Nancy Dakuras will be remembered for her immense love of life, her artistic talents, and the legacy of love she left behind. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
