Minnie Lee Bishop (Scott), known better as “Ms. Minnie” went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2021, at the age of 73.
Minnie was born to John Lee Scott and Cornelius Sanders on September 6, 1948 at the Cook County Hospital, in Chicago, Illinois.
She graduated high school and earned her Master’s in “life” as a loving wife of twenty-five years to John Henry Bishop, Sr.; and mother to their beautiful four children – John Henry, Jr., Susie, Latrice, and Anthony - who were the greatest loves of her life.
She prided herself in this life as a great mom demonstrated through all she was able to provide her kids with the best opportunities for a good life.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Minnie was also a savvy saleswoman who loved cooking, shopping, spending time with her kids, decorating her home and visiting garage sales.
She became saved, sanctified, and filled with the holy ghost when she received Christ at Philadelphia Holiness Full Gospel Baptist Church in Elgin, Illinois, under the leadership of Pastor Johnson. She became a Prayer Warrior and Mother of the Church; and when her health prevented her from participating in church, she continued to
sing and praise the Lord from wherever she was until God finally called her home.
Minnie will now rest alongside her eldest son, John Henry Bishop, Jr. She is survived by her children – Susan Lenore Adams (husband-Ron), Latrice Ann Hogan, Anthony Alonzo Bishop (wife-Nichole); her six grandchildren – Chiquita, Joshua, Siara, Iesha, AJ, and Jayden; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and sister; and a host of family and friends.
Minnie requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. All of Minnie’s loved ones are requested to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road, Bartlett, IL 60103 on Monday, November 1, 2021. The social memorial begins at 4:00–7:00 and the service memorial will be held at 7:00-8:00 pm.
