Miles Dubinsky

November 14, 1946 — January 4, 2021

Miles Joseph Dubinsky, 74, passed away at home Monday, January 4th, 2020 after surviving extensive medical issues throughout the past 30 years, surrounded by his family.

Miles, (Mike, Mickey) was born on November 14th, 1946 in Cicero, Illinois. With his mother and father, Nancy and Leon Dubinsky, he moved to Skokie, Illinois as a teenager. He joined the Army and became a Drill Sergeant and was stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana until his honorary discharge, days away from being sent to Vietnam.
Upon returning, he discovered his niche as a draftsman, then Mechanical Engineer and later advancing as the Director of Engineering for Imperial Eastman in Niles for 30 years. During this time his love of tools, designing, and inventing grew. Miles has 7 patents recorded with the U. S. Patent Office. He accumulated a massive collection of tools, gadgets, and parts in his amazing garage and it was something that he was so proud of! The neighbors soon discovered he had any tool needed for a project and there didn’t seem to be anything he couldn’t repair or fix with a creative solution.

Miles was an avid “garage saler.” His joy was bargaining for an old item and restoring it or cleaning it until it looked brand new. He even purchased his 1995 Corvette at a garage sale! Although his health prevented him from riding, he had a love for Harley Motorcycles and kept his shiny and polished in the garage next to his infamous “garage chair!”
Despite his many medical issues, Miles remained upbeat, strong and lived life with a sense of humor. Miles is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marcy, 3 sons: Reese (grandson Zac), Shawn (Brittany) and Ross (Megan), dear sister Darlene, many loving family members and his pets Stanley and Mitzie.
Due to Covid restrictions at this time, no funeral service or memorial is planned.
