Mildred Kowalczyk

Mildred Sophie Kowalczyk (nee Szczepanik), 88, of Streamwood, died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at home. Born August 23, 1922 in Chicago. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (nee Barc) Szczepanik. Mildred always stayed positive through thick and thin. She enjoyed cooking and was a member of St. Ansgar for many years. Mildred especially enjoyed being with her family.
Survivors include children Joyce (Anthony) Carey and Dr. James B, sister-in-law Ida Szczepanik and several nieces and nephews many of whom she was Godmother to.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Benny P, son Jeffrey J, sister Irene (Frank) Froncek and brother Edward.
Visitation Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 3:00-9:00p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 333 S Roselle Rd (1/4 mile south of Irving Park), Roselle. Mass Thursday 10:00a.m. at St. James the Apostle, 480 Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn. Interment private St. Adalbert Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Marklund Children’s Home, www.marklund.org would be appreciated.
