Mick Polnow

Mick Polnow, 74, of South Elgin, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 surrounded by his family. Mick was so proud of his children’s accomplishments. He never lost his sense of humor. He had a dad joke for every occasion and he cherished his longtime friendships and time spent with family. Mick had a passion for all sports. In his younger years, he competed in softball, basketball and football. Later in life he was the coach of his son’s baseball and basketball teams. He was ecstatic when the Cubs won the World Series and he never gave up on the Bears. He loved golfing with his friends. He was a member of the Beer Can Collectors of America for over 30 years. His first love was his 1973 Corvette.



Beloved husband of Marla (nee Streit); loving father of Sam (Brittany) and Sarah (Todd) Sabatini; proud grandfather of Noah and Jace; cherished son of the late Harold and the late Margaret (nee Kain) Polnow.



Visitation Friday, February 23 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm with a funeral service at 6:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 95 S. Gilbert St. (at State St.), South Elgin.
