Michael C. Janis died suddenly March 26, 2012. Survived by long-time companion Marie Carrasca, daughter Linzie, sons Christopher and Matthew, mother Margaret Janis, sisters Marcy Dillingham and Sue Harris.
Mike was a loving father, enthusiastic golfer and dedicated professional. His warmth and humor touched all who knew him.

Mike died suddenly of a heart attack. He was planning to take a trip to London next week to spend some quality time with his daughter Linzie. He had just won a trip to St. Thomas through his work in May and was planning to return to the same island to see his eldest son Christopher get married to his fiancé Janine in October. That same month he was going to celebrate his 60th birthday.
Mike loved his children immensely. He was a devoted, ‘hands-on’ dad from the moment they were born. He was most often found cracking jokes and making the people around him feel good. To his kids he was the greatest dad in the world. He was like a big kid, playing sports with them, making up games and songs and even inventing strange breakfast dishes with them.
Mike grew up in Northbrook, Illinois with his parents Margaret and Carl and his sisters Marcy and Carol. He met Ruthanne Boswell at college at Western Illinois and the two were married in 1974. Five years later they started their beautiful family. Mike had a successful career in insurance with Allstate in the North Shore for 13 years, then with InsureOne in Hoffman Estates and most recently with The David Agency in Elmhurst. Mike was a natural salesman, he took a genuine interest in all his customers, treating them with kindness and respect - in return they placed their trust in him.
Mike was a rock for his children, helping them through the death of their mother just 28 months ago. He was so, so proud of his kids – Linzie for following her dreams and becoming a successful news anchor, Chris for being a gifted salesman and businessman (the family have taken to calling him Mike’s ‘clone’). He was proud of Matthew for working full time and continuing his studies and for his passion, creativity and for being such a loyal and loving person.
Mike loved his life with Marie - they knew each other for 25 years. Outside of working together every day, they shared many interests – travelling, going to the theatre, concerts and other cultural & sporting events, as well as spending time with each other’s families. His talent as an artist is obvious by some of the pictures he drew for Marie. He displayed them in their home in Schaumburg that he loved so much. He also taught Marie his love for the game of golf, allowing them to spend more time together. They loved each other so much and were the best of friends too.
Mike will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
