Michael F. Guidotti, 65, of Roselle died August 30, 2020. Mike was the beloved husband of Debra Guidotti; loving father of John and Katie Guidotti; cherished brother of Rosemarie Johnson, the late John (Roberta) Guidotti, Christopher Guidotti and Gina Marie Miller; proud uncle of Penny Marie (Andy) Belew, Ashley Marie Miller, Nora (Patrick) Foran, James DeLuca, Brian Guidotti, Alyana Guidotti and Matthew Johnson; dear great uncle of Forrest.
Mike was a man of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, and loved to take his family and friends. He was anxious every spring for the warm weather of Chicago so he could get on the green and hit the golf course. On a nice summer day, you could catch Mike, most likely speeding, with the top down in his beloved mustang. Mike also had a passion for being near water. He loved the annual family trip to Deep Lake, he enjoyed going to the beach in Mexico, or just floating around in a pool with a Chicago in hand. Another favorite past time of his, would be to sit on the patio of his wooded backyard and cook on his smoker. Countless times, he fed family and friends smoked brisket, ribs, pizza and veggies. Mike was dedicated to his job at Columbia College, where his profound work ethic was appreciated for more than 20 years. He was also a long time member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 where strong relationships were formed. After a hard day’s work, you could find him on the train with his Bose headphones on unwinding to reggae, jazz, country or good old 70’s rock and roll. If you knew Mike at all, he made an impression on you. He was insightful, intelligent, sarcastic, witty, and humble. Mike never met a stranger. He had an enormous heart and would give you the shirt off your back if you needed it. His contagious laugh, quirky sense of humor and genuine smile will be forever missed by his wife, children, family and friends.
A celebration of life for Mike will be held Saturday, September 5th. Stop by anytime between 2-5pm in the backyard of the Guidotti residence. In the times we are facing with COVID 19, the family respectfully asks that you do not attend if you have any symptoms. If you would like to express condolences to the family, a mask is required and please plan on only being present for 30 minutes or less. The health and safety of everyone is a priority for the family and it’s the intention for people to come and go over the period of 3 hours and minimize the crowding in the backyard. No restroom will be available.
