Michael J. Gaffigan

Michael J. Gaffigan of St. Charles peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday evening, May 6, 2026. Michael was born May 21, 1943 in Springfield, Illinois. Mike graduated from Lanphier High School and was a star letterman basketball player for the Lanphier Lions and Springfield Junior College. Mike was happily married to the late Linda Haley Gaffigan for 49 years. Mike was a dedicated delivery man and Union representative of 29 years for Hostess Cake and worked 16 years as a Security Guard at Calamos Investments. In his pastime, Mike loved taking his family on vacations, going for drives to favorite food spots, spending time with his grandchildren, golfing and watching all Chicago sports teams. Mike had a special place in his heart for sweets. Frequently, he could be found with a hamburger in hand, a Coca Cola and a smile on his face. He will be missed but his memories will last a life time.

Mike is preceded by his parents, Walter and Mary Gaffigan, brothers, William, Walter, Robert. John, wife, Linda Gaffigan and grandson, Sean Tavernier. Mike is survived by his sisters, Margaret Ann Gaffigan and Barbara Sue (James) Jones, son, Scott Gaffigan, daughters, Dawn Daly, Jennifer (Bob) Tavernier, step son, Michael Irving, grandchildren, Ethan Goostree and Olivia Tavernier and his best buddies, Rascal and Bandit.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, May 14th, from 2:00-6:00PM with service at 5PM at Countryside Funeral Home located at 95 S Gilbert St, South Elgin, IL 60177.
