Max Mitchell, 88, of South Elgin, died Friday, June 2, 2023. Max was born on April 23, 1935. To know Max was to love his infectious smile and amazing blue eyes. Our dad loved life, he adored his children and Grand Children. He was so proud to be a Great Grandpa. Max was an admired York High School teacher and shared his passion for wrestling as their wrestling coach
For many years!! When one of his wrestlers went to State he coached and cheered them on like he was their dad on the side of the mat. Max loved to fly his piper plane in the spring and summer. He has love for camping and the outdoors. He loved a good cookout and family time.
Max will be missed and may his memory continue on thru his surviving family. He leaves behind 2 sons, 2 daughters, 10 grandkids and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by 1 son, his parents and 3 brothers.
Cremation was private at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, South Elgin. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org, would be appreciated.
