Mary M. Schumacher (nee Casazza) of Medinah for 58 years died Saturday, November 28, 2020, surrounded by her family. Born January 27, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of John and Marie Casazza. Mary was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She was loved by all that knew her and she touched many hearts. Mary loved spending time with her family, never wanting to miss family gatherings. Even while in nursing home, she was loved by everyone and even picked as Vice President to represent the other residents. She enjoyed playing numerous games daily (such as Bingo) to keep busy. Mary was always taking care of her family – her pride and joy. We will all miss our daily conversations with her. Mary enjoyed working as a nurse’s aide and head cook at Alexian Brothers Medical Center earlier in life and really loved cooking at home for her family (we all ate very well as kids). She volunteered at St. Walter’s Church for many years. Mary became quite an artist in her last 5 years with many of her pictures hanging up in her children’s homes. Beloved wife for 62 years to the late Richard; loving mother of Mary (Chris) Gregoire, Rick (Ellen), John (Arian), Brian (Kelly), and Trina (late Rick) Bong; cherished Grandma of Jacki (George), Kristofer (Jennifer), Shari (Dante), Eric (Blaine), Jeremy (Jenna), Jenny (Steven), Tim (Sarah), Brad (Nina), Nick (Michelle), Elizabeth, April, Mathew, Danielle and Natalie; dear Great Grandma of Zakary (Megan), Joey, Mia, Emilia, Emily, Brody, Dylan, Chase, Hailey, Ben, Emery, Evett, Drew, Madison, Baley, and one on the way. Fond sister to the late Joann (Bob Huston); the late Patricia (late Paul Giacomino); the late Carolyn (late John Moran), and the late Frances. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dear friend to many.
