Mary Heading

With her family around her, Mary Heading, "Nana" left us to join our Heavenly Father on February 1, 2012. Nana is rejoicing with her dearly beloved father, mother and brothers, Chuck and Dave.


All who knew Nana agree that her greatest passions in life were her grandchildren, Jeremy and Marissa. She rarely, if ever, missed any activity that they participated in. Often times, she would watch the games from her Mustang, she claimed because she got too excited, but we heard her cheers nonetheless and she always knew the scores. She could often be found at the baseball fields watching even if she didn't know the teams that were playing. Nana faced many challenges over the years and overcame each obstacle with dignity, grace and the humor that could only be Nana. She loved to spend time outdoors in the summertime, sitting on her bench watching the world go by. She loved to get in her Mustang, put the top down and disappear. She would be gone for hours with no reason but that she wanted to drive. Nana was an avid reader who knew something about everything.


Nana spent the last eight years living with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. They were blessed to have had the privilege of sharing not only the special occasions in life with her but also the ordinary day to day events that most take for granted. She is so much more than a mother and grandmother. She is the best friend anyone could ever hope to have that has given us all our own uniquely special memories. Nana has filled our hearts and souls with endless love.


Nana is survived by her daughter, Dana (Billy) Roman and grandchildren, Jeremy David and Marissa Riley.


A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2011 from 3 pm unitl the time of service 8 pm at Countryside Funeral Home located at 95 South Gilbert Street, South Elgin, Illinois 60177.
