Mary Gonyon

Mary Gonyon (nee Sullivan), 74, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at her home in Streamwood, IL. She was born on August 16, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to David and Cathleen (nee Connaire) Sullivan. She attended High School at Mary Louis Academy and attended St. Johns University in New York. Mary was joined in marriage on June 6, 1959 to James Gonyon; they were married for 53 years. Mary worked with the adult literacy program and ESL classes based out of the YWCA in Elgin, IL for almost 20 years. She touched many people’s lives through her generosity and kind heart. Mary enjoyed shopping and spoiling her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband James A ; sons James P, Thomas and Sean Gonyon; daughter Elizabeth (nee Gonyon) Tierney; 9 grandchildren and the rest of her family and friends. In keeping with the wishes of Mary there will be no funeral services. Arrangements and cremation were handled by Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, Streamwood.
