Our lives will be less bright since Mary Coughran Giardina passed from this earth surrounded by loved ones on November 15th, 2023.
Mary was born on May 31st, 1964. She graduated from Larkin High School in 1982. As a licensed nail technician, Mary had several loyal clients for 35 years. Then she was a crossing guard for the South Elgin Police Department and worked at South Elgin High School.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 27 years Greg; Eviana, her beautiful and caring daughter; her mother, Barbara Wilson; and two siblings, Dale Coughran (Sandy) and Angela Nuhn (Rob). Also surviving are 5 brothers-in-law from Greg’s family: Paul Giardina (Debra), Timothy (Lisa), Mark, Brian (Joette), Thomas (Holly). Mary was preceded in death by her father James A Coughran, and both fraternal and maternal grandparents. Mary’s family was always #1 in her heart.
Mary was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer 2.5 years ago. Never wavering, she valiantly “wore that cancer crusader cape” and beat cancer twice. Her strength, courage, and love of family and friends kept her going.
Mary will always be remembered for her quick, sharp wit and contagious smile. She always embraced life with a full heart. On every adventure she took, she photographed at least one beautiful sunset, often captured on a beach. When you encounter a splendid sunset, think of Mary and know she’s smiling and capturing that perfect picture.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to further Eviana’s education.
