Mary Dolan

April 16, 1940 — June 12, 2022

Mary Hamer Dolan, born April 16, 1940, in Oak Park, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and close friends Sunday, June 12, 2022. She was a resident of Bartlett for over 30 years. Mary was 82.

Mary attended Providence St. Mel School while growing up. It wasn’t long after graduation that she was introduced to Raymond J. Dolan through mutual friends. Their first date was a non-conventional evening of roller-skating which Mary truly enjoyed. After one year of dating, they decided to make it permanent, and they were wed on October 10, 1959. They honeymooned at the Sands Harbor Resort in Florida. Mary was the beloved and devoted wife to Raymond for over 62 years.
Together, they had two sons, Raymond Dwight and William James. Mary’s favorite past time with her family was to travel. Mary was a United employee for 31 years which enabled them to do just that. Some of their favorite vacation destinations were Ireland, Hawaii, Paris, and Florida, especially Disney World. Mary also enjoyed going on cruises to destinations from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, as well as through European nations.

Mary had five grandchildren which she dearly loved. Besides taking them on various vacations, she enjoyed taking them for a drive in her convertible. As time went on, Mary became a great grandmother of five ranging in the years between 7 and 14 years.

Besides traveling, Mary had other hobbies such as gardening, shopping, going out to lunch, and coloring beautiful pictures to pass on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mary also loved animals. Besides owning her own horse and several dogs, she acted as foster care for the DuPage County Animal Shelter.

Mary will be missed by her family. Beloved wife of 62 years to Raymond; loving mom of Raymond (Sandra) and William; cherished grandmother of Benjamin, Brent, Ray J. (Meagan), Aaron and Shauna; caring great-grandmother of Gabrielle, Christian, Allison, Olivia and Gabriel and dear daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Hamer.

Cremation will be private at the Countryside Crematory.
