Mary C. D'Agostino, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, at the age of 98. A long-time resident of Burbank, Illinois, Mary's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication to family.
Born on March 3, 1928, Mary was the beloved daughter of Ignazio and Annunziata (nee Morelli) Sessa. At the tender age of 20, Mary embarked on a significant journey to America, where she laid down roots and began her enduring legacy.
Mary's love for her family was only matched by her passion for her craft. She spent many dedicated years working as a seamstress for Hart Schaffner Marx, where her meticulous skill was admired by all. Even in her personal life, Mary's hands were rarely still, as she spent many hours crocheting beautiful pieces and baking delicious Italian pastries that delighted her family and friends.
Outside of work and family, Mary's heart belonged to the natural world. She found immense joy tending to the vibrant flowers in her garden and caring for animals. These passions reflect her warm and nurturing spirit, which she shared generously with all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Fred (Trudi) D'Agostino, Linda (Julio Lozada) Stokes and Rosemary D'Agostino. She leaves behind a legacy through her cherished grandson, Anthony D'Agostino, her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Phoenix, Braxton, Chase, great-great grandchildren Bradley Jo, Archer Bryce and sister-in-law Evonne D'Agostino. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Erminio D’Agostino, parents, her brother Joseph Sessa, her son-in-law Avery Stokes and brother-in-law Robert D'Agostino.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation to honor Mary’s life on Friday, May 29th, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm with prayers to be said at 5:00pm at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory in Bartlett, Illinois. Arrangements have been thoughtfully handled by Countryside Funeral Homes & Crematory – Bartlett.
In memory of Mary, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, to either have a tree planted in her name or support an animal charity of your choice, celebrating her enduring love for nature and her compassionate spirit.
Mary's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and joy. Her memory will continue to blossom in the hearts of those she touched throughout her remarkable 98 years.
