Mary Lou “Lulu” Alaia, 91, formerly of Bensenville, died October 29, 2025. Mary Lou was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore; loving mother of Sue (Jeff) Skender, Chris (Marisol) Alaia, and Rose (Jaime) Abaroa; proud grandmother of Jenny (Kyle Benson), Emily, Noah, Hanna and the late Nicky; dear sister of the late Phillip Jacobs, Jr.
Mary Lou was a giving person – be it for her family and friends, or at church or a charitable organization. She and Sal worked for years with preparing couples for marriage in the Church. They were ministers of Care bringing Communion to the sick and elderly. Mary Lou also did bereavement work. While she loved travel, shopping, baking, and playing cards and Bingo – her passion was her family. She made everyone feel special and loved. She taught her family that beauty came from inside, and being a good person and loving God were the most important parts of life.
Even with dementia in her later years, she never lost her big smile and love for people. Her care for others lived on deep inside her, and she tried to help wherever she could. She was very loved and will be greatly missed, but we are happy she is again with Sal and got to meet the Lord.
Visitation Monday, November 3, 9:00am until the time of Mass 10:00am at St. Hubert Church 729 Grand Canyon Street, Hoffman Estates. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Association would be appreciated.
