Martin "Mike" Jean

November 12, 1933 — January 5, 2024

Martin "Mike" Victor Jean, 90, of Roselle, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024. One of twelve children born November 12, 1933 in Lowell, MA to Cecile and Hector Jean. Loving father to Stephanie J. (Michael J.) Mette; beloved grandfather to Brendan Lucente and Zack Mette; and dear brother to sister Gertrude Cohen, and brother Leon Jean. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carol-Ann. Graduating from the University of Illinois Mike started his career at Georgia Marble Company. After a loss of eyesight, Mike enrolled in “Braille and Mobility” school at Illinois Visually Handicapped Institute and then took courses in computer programming at the University of Cincinnati. In February of 1967 he began working for Harris Bank and spend the next 45 years there. After meeting and marrying Carol-Ann, they settled in Roselle, and expanded their family, adopting Stephanie.

Mike loved spending time in the garden and tinkering in the garage. In his younger years he could also be found fishing at the near-by pond, or in a small dingy in the Atlantic Ocean with his brother. Mike was one of the most patient, kind beings. His first thoughts were always of others. Conquering the adversary of partial blindness, Mike fulfilled his own wishes by being a provider to his family, supporter of his wife’s dreams and champion of anything his daughter and grandchildren wanted.
