Marta Rodriguez

Marta Rodriguez, 87 (nee Morales) died Monday, December 6, 2010 at her home. Born April 4, 1923 in Santa Lucia Oriente, Cuba. She was the daughter of Mario and Margarita (nee Sernadas) Morales. Marta and her family came to America in 1953 and were very proud to be Cuban Americans. She enjoyed traveling. Marta valued many things but the things she valued the most were her freedom, family and her faith.
Survivors include daughter Martha (Elmer) Fernandez of Hampshire; grandson Joel (Elena) Fernandez; brother Mario Sernadas of Cuba; sister Yolanda Morales of Hampshire and special friend who was like a daughter Mercedes Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Reynaldo in 1999, her parents and her sister Berta Rodriguez.
Visitation will be Friday, December 10, 2010 from 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m. at Northwest Bible Baptist Church, 9N889 Nesler Rd, Elgin. Visitation will continue Saturday 9:00a.m. until time of funeral 10:00a.m. Interment Lakewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers.
