Mark Hogan, of Bartlett, IL, formerly of Palatine, IL, passed away August 14, 2024, at Alexian Brothers Hospital Elk Grove Village, IL, after suffering a sudden heart attack the week prior. He was 59 years old.
Mark was born November 9, 1964, to John "Jack" and Rosemary nee Leet, in Hinsdale, IL. He attended Palatine HS, Harper Jr. College, and Illinois State College, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He was an Officer, Detective and eventually Deputy Chief in the City of Rolling Meadows, IL, retiring after 29 years of service. Most recently he was a Community Service Officer (CSO) and then an Evidence Coordinator/Court Liaison in the Village of Bartlett. In both places of employment he was recognized with many Awards and Accommodations, including a letter of recognition from Louis Freeh, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a high profile case, and Bartlett CSO of the year in 2021.
He was passionate about his soccer, having played on the Palatine and Harper teams, and his golf of which he didn't get to play enough. He was also deeply connected to his extensive network of friends and Brothers in Blue who have been left in shock and disbelief by his sudden loss of life.
Mark is survived by his wife Mary nee Hanlon, son Aiden, daughter Lauren, and his favorite "child,” his loyal dog Finn. Additionally his sisters Cathy (Mike) Weidner, Colleen (John) Marlewski, and brother John (Val). He leaves behind too many nephews and nieces to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Nancy, and brother Mike.
Because of the shear extent of family, friends and co-workers, we ask that post services you get together with your respective groups, at the establishments of your choice, and hug each other like there is no tomorrow, while you toss back a few adult beverages and tell your favorite "Marky" memories.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, visit giftofhope.org.
