Marion was born in Chicago on September 15, 1927, spent many summers on her family farm in Wisconsin and began her career as a secretary at HotPoint, where she met the love of her life Jim. Saturday night dates consisted of music and dancing the jitter bug and the waltz to tunes of Glen Miller and the like followed by sliders at White Castle. They married on June 9, 1951.
After starting a family, Jim and Marion moved to Forest Park IL, fixing up a house that became home for many years. Marion was a stay at home mom where she did at home typing for companies and lovingly took care of her parents during their illnesses. After their passings, Marion went to work at McDonald’s where everyone called her ‘mom’ working her way up to store manager. Later in life, she went back to college and obtained an associate’s degree in accounting which lead her to St. Bernardine’s parish where she was their bookkeeper for several years until her retirement.
Marion’s true love was for her family, her dogs, spending time at their cabin on the lake in Mercer, WI and cooking, especially for Sunday and holiday dinners ensuring everyone was always well fed. Marion started to run when she was in her 50s and ran local 5Ks and a 10K often winning her age group. Her favorite run was the Brookfield Zoo Run.
Marion had a deep faith, a quick wit, and strong sense of values which she installed in her children. Her final years were spent at Artis in Bartlett where she was loved and cared for by many individuals. She will sorely be missed by those she left behind.
