Marilyn Rose Vlasak Ziaja of Bartlett, IL. born in 1931, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the age of 88.
She is the daughter of the late George and Mary Rose Vlasak. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her brothers Edward, George, and Walter Vlasak. She is reunited with her husband Frank who passed away in 1981.
Marilyn and Frank were married in 1952 and together raised 4 children. Their family life began in Bartlett, moving to California where she and her family enjoyed numerous trips exploring California, then back to Illinois, finally returning to Bartlett. Everyone cherished the time they were able to gather at her home for holidays and events, especially as the family grew with spouses and grandchildren moving to various locations around the country. After a courageous fight and surviving pancreatic cancer in 2004, she remained vital and active up until the time of her passing.
She was a dearly loved and devoted wife, mom, grandma, and Gigi.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Donna Donahue (Patrick), James Ziaja (Luciana) , Stephen Ziaja (Susan), and Patricia Rostad (James);
Grandchildren, Kevin Donahue (Alison), Dustin Donahue (Rachel Beetz), Carolyn Sparks (Ryan), and Delaney Rostad; Great- grandchildren, Brody and Logan Donahue, and the Sparks twins due in August. Wonderful memories were made with her longtime friends, Jane, Barbara, Martha, and the late LouAnn.
A private celebration of her life and memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
