Dr. Marilyn Medina-Perez, 43, of Schaumburg, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014. She was born September 6, 1970. Marilyn was a social worker at Vanguard High School where she worked directly with troubled teens. She loved meeting with them one on one and truly believed in its therapeutic values. She was even awarded Social Worker of the Year in 2011 from the state of Illinois. Marilyn also loved salsa dancing and its ties to her Puerto Rican heritage, a heritage she was very proud of. She will be missed by the many lives she touched. Beloved wife of Jesse; loving mom of twins Aiden and Liam; cherished daughter of Luis and Lydia Colon; dear sister of Ileana (Christopher) Crawl, Angel, and Ulysses Medina, Maritza Cantu, Javier Colon and the late Luis; caring niece of Eladio Gonzalez and several nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation 2:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 333 S Roselle Rd (1/4 mile south of Irving Park Rd), Roselle. Funeral Monday 9:15a.m. to St. Matthew Catholic Church, Mass 10:00a.m. Following services cremation will be at Countryside Crematory. Private inurnment at River Hills Cemetery.
