Marilyn Gallagher

April 15, 1931 — April 25, 2013

Marilyn J. Gallagher, nee Wehlage, of Hanover Park, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at home with her husband, of 50 years by her side. Marilyn was born on April 15, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is survived by her devoted husband Jim, cherished children Elizabeth Chipchak, Mark (Laura) Gallagher and Ann Watson; dear grandchildren Erika, Abby and Ava Gallagher, Claire, Lauren, Michael and Emma Chipchak and Jack Watson; fond brother Richard Wehlage and sisters Marjorie (Bernard) Lenahan and Alice (Ronald) Kilgore; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was a volunteer at the DuPage Convalescent Center for 22 years. She was a member of the Bartlett Historical Society and former president of the Hanover Park Historical Society. She played a vital role in writing the history of Ontarioville. She and Jim are very active at St. Peter Damian. She loved to do needle art, travel, garden, photography and for some unknown reason collecting pigs of all shapes and sizes. She was a proud member of the Clan Montgomery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd.) Bartlett. Funeral Monday 9:30 am to St. Peter Damian Church. Mass 10:00 am. Interment St. Michael the Archangel. In lieu of flowers donations to Heifer International or Alexian Brothers Hospice would be appreciated.
