Marie Gannon

October 5, 1924 — April 30, 2020

Marie L. Gannon, nee Schultz, 95, formerly of Carol Stream; wife of the late Patrick H. Gannon and the late Virgil C. Smith; mom of Jackie (Rich) Schoenwolf, Diane Fromich, Jerry Smith, Patti (Nick) Kamenjarin, Lorri (late Bob) Brinegar, the late James C. (Linda) Smith and the late Michael "Mickey" (Kathy) Smith; grandma of 20; great grandma of many; preceded in death by a grandson Adam, 2 sisters, 6 brothers and her parents the late Herman and the late Marie, nee Bunge. She worked hard keeping the home running smoothly. Marie lived a good life. She worked hard to bring in some extra money by working as a school cafeteria manager at Roosevelt Junior High in Bellwood for 20+ years. She was a devoted Cubs fan and knew every player and every statistic about each player. She was fortunate to have seen the Cubs win a World Series in 2016. Her fondest memories were of camping with the entire family at Indian Trails Campground in Pardeeville Wisconsin. A celebration of Marie's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., floor 17, Chicago, Il. 60601 or the American Heart Association 300 S. Riverside Plaza Chicago, Il. 60606 would be appreciated. Cremation was private at the Countryside Crematory.
