Marian Current

Marian Eloise Current, formerly of Vermont, IL was born December 10, 1917, in Danville, IL. She was the daughter of Augusta and Everet Billman. Marian passed away on February 13, 2012, at Friendship Village in Schaumburg, IL. She married James F. Current on September 14, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1974. Also preceding her in death were her two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Sally and Melissa and two sons, Fred and Jeff. Also, she is the beloved grandmother to eight grandchildren (Kevin, Sarah, Jim, Chris, David, Katherine, Madison, and Camryn) and nine great-grandchildren.
Marian raised her four children and then returned to college when she was 55 years old. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education. Following graduation, Marian taught in the V.I.T. school district for twelve years. After retirement, she travelled extensively including: Greece, Italy, England, Holland, the Philippines, Mexico, Egypt, and Germany. She wintered in Texas for many years. She was a member of the Vermont Methodist Church and was also very active in Chapter C PEO.
Visitation and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Vermont United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vermont United Methodist Church in Vermont, IL.
