With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Maria T. Fernando, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, cousin, and friend, who left us on Monday, October 5, 2026, just shy of her 63rd birthday. Maria was born on October 15, 1963, in Santruce, Puerto Rico.

Maria was the cherished wife of 35 years to Iraj and the devoted mother to her daughter Jari. She was the beloved Godmother to Myra and Mya. She shared a special bond with her cousins Miguel and Walesca, and cultivated enduring relationships with countless close friends who had the pleasure of knowing her generous heart and infectious spirit.

Maria predeceased her dear mother, Haydee Maldonado, whose memory she held dear. Maria was a devoted foodie, an avid reader, and a lover of crossword puzzles, which she approached with enthusiasm and tenacity. Her life was marked by her unwavering support for her favorite football team, the Chicago Bears, earning her the title of the "World’s Greatest Chicago Bears Fan." Her love for music and her talent for hosting unforgettable parties left lasting impressions on all who attended.

Maria's vibrant life will be celebrated starting with a visitation on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Hubert Church (Holy Archangels Parish), 729 Grand Canyon St, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169, on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine, IL.
