Margaret Hertel

Margaret Mary Hertel (nee Keyser), 71, of Burlington, WI passed October 5, 2023. Margaret was the beloved wife of Tom Hertel for 48 years; loving mother of Tommy (Niki), Maggi (Matt) Olsen and Eric (Krystal); proud grandmother of Madilynn, Addisynn, Chloie, Brooklyn, Thomas, Audrey, Gavin, Sloane, Kade and Kellawyn; dear sister of Frank (Annette) Keyser, Maryann (Jerry) McSwain, Eileen (the late Clyde) Wright and John (Cheryl) Keyser; dear sister in law of Harry Hertel and Richard Hertel, loving best friend of Andrea (Marc) Friedman. She will be missed by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as her faithful companion Lana May.

Margaret loved nothing more than meticulously tending to her garden, bringing more beauty into the world by using a paint brush to breathe life into whatever inspired her, and using her imaginative spirit while crocheting items for those she loved most. But what filled her soul more than anything else were the endless nights spent hand in hand with Tom as they gazed into the stars while sharing a bottle of wine and dreaming of what was to come.

A celebration of life will be held Friday October 13, 3:00pm - 9:00pm at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Road) Streamwood/Schaumburg. We are kindly asking all who attend to please wear something purple in honor of Margaret. A service will be held at 6:30pm. Following services cremation will be private at Countryside Crematory.
