Manuel C. Laxamana, 74, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020, at home with his family. He was born December 21, 1945, in Manila, Philippines to the late Julio Laxamana and Flora Laxamana.
Manuel was a graduate of the Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Admnistration, majoring in banking and finance. Manuel worked as an insurance surveyor in the Philippines before migrating to the United States in 1985. In the United States, Manuel continued working in the insurance industry until his retirement in 2019.
In his spare time, Manuel solved puzzles, especially sudoku, and he would occasionally play Mahjong with friends on Fridays. He enjoyed midnight snacks of milk and cookies and falling asleep anywhere and anytime. Manuel was a man of few words, but Tito Boy, as he was also called, was the life of the party. Tito Boy loved listening to dancing music, from disco of 70s, to 90s club hits and latin music. At parties, Tito Boy would light up the dance floor all night and could pound shots of whiskey with the best of them. Even with as little as two shots, Tito Boy would start belting out the best of the BeeGees in their signature falsetto.
Manuel is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Cecilia; his children, Aezre Laxamana and Maria Lopez, of North Las Vegas, Nevada and Rochelle and Joseph de la Rosa, of San Francisco, California; his sisters, Juliet Pangilinan and Josephine Laxamana; and his grandson, Alexander Laxamana.
Memorial Services for Manuel will be held from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Countryside Funeral Home, located at 950 South Bartlett Road, Bartlett, Illinois 60103.
