Madlin "Cookie" "Maddie" Cerny

Hanover Park

Our sweet Cookie was one of a kind. She was the kind of daughter, sister, teammate, and friend that made people better just by being around her. Losing her at only 14 years old has left a hole in our hearts and our family that can never be filled.

We are a baseball family, and from the very beginning, Cookie grew up on the fields. She spent countless hours at ballparks with her brother Madden, learning the game, chasing dreams, and eventually creating a name all her own. What started as a little girl tagging along became something extraordinary. Cookie didn’t just play baseball—she loved it with everything she had.

She worked harder than anyone we knew. She was dedicated, disciplined, and determined to succeed, but what made us most proud was not just the athlete she became—it was the person she was. Cookie was responsible beyond her years. She never had to be told what needed to be done. Whether it was school, practice, helping others, or taking care of responsibilities, she handled everything on her own with maturity and pride.

Cookie earned good grades, respected her teachers, and made friends everywhere she went. She had a way of making people feel comfortable, included, and cared about. She built lifelong friendships both inside and outside of baseball because her heart was genuine and kind.

On the field, Cookie was fearless. She broke barriers, competed with confidence, and earned the respect of teammates
and opponents alike. She represented Team USA, played for elite travel programs, and became known as “the girl who throws fire.” But when she came home, she was still simply our Cookie—the girl who loved her family deeply and never let success change who she was.

As parents and as her brother, we could not have been more proud of her. Cookie showed us what dedication, heart, and strength look like. She dreamed big, worked endlessly, and carried herself with humility through it all.

Though her life was far too short, Cookie lived it with purpose, passion, and love. We will miss her laugh, her smile, her determination, and the light she brought into every room and every ball field she stepped onto.

She will forever be our girl who throws fire.

Love always,
Mom, Dad, and Madden
