Mabel Johnson, 96, of South Elgin, IL, passed away on Friday March 11, 2016. She was born to Jesse and Julia Baggett in Anna, IL on September 24, 1919. After moving to Evansville, IN to assemble aircrafts during World War II, she met Leslie Needham (of Pella, IA) while he was stationed. They were united in marriage in 1944 and remained happily in love until his passing in August 1946. She then gave birth to Les Needham on September 11, 1946. After moving back to Anna, IL, she met and married her second love Cecil Johnson in 1951. They had one daughter Linda on May 16, 1952. The family of four eventually settled in Elgin, IL. Mabel spent her career working as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Elgin State Hospital until her retirement. She was an avid cook, enjoyed a working on puzzles and loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Leslie Needham and Cecil Johnson, brothers Raymond Baggett and Amos Baggett, sister Callie Webb, son Les Needham and daughter Linda Blaha.
She is survived by daughter-in-law Linda 'June' Needham, son-in-law Henry Blaha Jr. and three grandsons Brian Blaha, Jeff Blaha, and Shaun Blaha.
Visitation is on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Elgin 1735 W. Highland, Elgin IL from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Monday from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Interment is on Tuesday at 2:30pm at Anna Cemetery, Anna IL. Info (847)289-8054 or www.countrysidefuneralhomes.com.
