Lynn Ann Petry (nee Olson) of Elgin.
“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone, the light remains.”
Lynn was a nurse during her life, and helped those who were on hemodialysis. Lynn left nursing when her daughter entered into elementary school, to spend more time with her. Lynn made her return to nursing by working in the juvenile facility in St. Charles.
Lynn loved life and always had a sense of adventure. Her favorite place to be was at her family’s summer home in Eagle River Wis, where she would enjoy relaxing by the lake. She loved the Rolling Stones and Starbucks coffee.
She was caring, and would help others even when she was suffering. She offered advice when asked and if she didn’t know, she would help you find the answer. She gave endlessly and was never too shy to tell you she loved you and give away a hug and kiss. She taught her daughter how to love unconditionally, forgive even when it still hurts, give to others regardless of what you have and laugh even when you’re crying.
Lynn was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2007. Lynn lived successfully with her diagnosis until March of 2011. In March, Lynn suffered from phenomena that affected her lungs. Once she was released from the hospital she had to come home with oxygen. During the course of the next years, Lynn continued to fight and still live the life she loved. On February 21st 2013, Lynn went into the ICU unit and was put on the ventilator for the first time. She continued to fight and was able to come home March 5th. Her stay home was short lived and she was back in ICU on March 9th. Lynn once again needed the ventilator to survive. Lynn lost her battle to Pulmonary Fibrosis on March 20th 2013. Lynn took her last breath with family surrounding her.
Lynn carried on her gift of love even in her death by being an organ donor with The Gift of Hope.
Lynn leaves behind her loving husband Mike and daughter Heather, Son-In-Law John, loving dog Aurora, loving mother Audrey, two sisters Susan and Audrey and many other loved ones. She will be missed.
